Hi I'm currenlty having two problems with OS X.1.5: 1) My scroll wheel doesn't work in Appleworks 6.2 or Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0. Now I know its not a driver problem since it works fine in other apps (IE5.2). I think this is a carbon problem. 2) In Palm Desktop 4.0 I can't seem to use my modem to dial contacts in the contact database. The readme for palm desktop indicates that dialing contacts using the modem works in OS9 but not OS X so I'm assuming this is also a Carbon problem.

Does anyone using Jaguar know if these things are fixed? I would would upgrade in a second if they were (and get a speedier GUI as in the bargain).

But overall learning Jaguar is easy enough for all but the most green of Mac users. I don't see myself booting into OS 9 again any time soon, if ever. This isn't a gigantic problem or a major gripe, but it's worth mentioning. An easy question- where is the TPMS control module located on a 2008 Jag XKR? There is pretty universal support for scroll wheels in Carbon apps in Jaguar. It seems like developers no longer need to explicitly add support for this. The only thing is that open/save dialog scroll wheel support is really flakey. It's not even a matter of Carbon apps not having support.

It's totally unpredictable. For instance - it works in Graphic Converter but not in Photoshop. Then there is the shift scroll sideways which is a whole other weird problem. Apple needs to iron these thigns out because they create a perpetual schizo workflow mindfuck. Acrobat Reader and AppleWorks were both written before scroll-wheel support was added to the carbon library.

Os9

I believe that apps have to be specifically told to use the scroll wheel, and that's why they don't work. An easy to determine if an application will be scroll-wheel compatible is whether or not it's had an update since 10.1 was released. AFAIK, neither AppleWorks or Acrobat Reader have had an update since that time.

I have the full version of Adobe Acrobat and it also suffers from this same problem. Speaking of problems, you could try this: Open a new finder window (not too large) and set it to column view. Now select the boot volume, and then say Applications, and then say Appleworks, or whatever until the columns are wider than the window you created. Now hit the zoom (green '+') button to make the window larger.

Mol point free software for mac. If it's failed, there will be a left-most column that shouldn't be there. Now resize using the bottom right-hand corner, make it very small, and then very large, and see if it leaves any artifacts behind. You can also try repeatedly hitting the zoom button, and see what that does. Sometimes you can get it to clear the window, and then sometimes it then returns back to normal? Cheers Gaffa.
