In an effort to combat this, the Pirate Bay has launched the Pirate Browser, a custom web browser that aims to circumvent internet censorship. Rather than a single program, the Pirate Browser is a bundle; it includes a customized version of the Firefox portable browser, a Tor client, and FoxyProxy, which is a Firefox add-on that simplifies the process by which a computer connects to a proxy. Unlike the goal of Tor, the Pirate Browser isn’t intended to provide complete anonymity.
Instead, it across the globe — very much in line with the torrent site’s mantra. So, if you thought the Pirate Browser would be a quick, simple, safe way for you to, think again. Through the use of proxies and the Tor client, the browser merely skirts sites that would otherwise be censored in your area.
