Flexibits today announced an update for Fantastical 2 for Mac. Version 2.5 adds many frequently requested and powerful features to the Apple Design Award-winning macOS calendar app and is a free update for existing users.

Even if you love Apple’s built-in Calendar apps on iOS 10 and watchOS 3, is the best way to view a streamlined list view of both your upcoming appointments and scheduled reminders. I use both apps but Fantastical is my primary calendar (and you can sort of now). Over the weekend, Fantastical for iOS was refreshed with a much-needed iOS 10 update that supports the new iOS 10 widget styles. Before iOS 10, widgets could be any size which made Fantastical’s month calendar widget very useful, but it didn’t fit iOS 10 without an update.

Fantastical has long been my go-to calendar on Mac, iPad, and iPhone, and today the Fantastical 2.2 update is hitting the. The intelligent calendar and reminders app started out as a menu bar utility with really, really good natural language detection for creating appointments and entries, plus a streamlined list view of upcoming items. Then a year ago Fantastical 2, which graduated the menu bar app to a full-fledged calendar that easily competes with the built-in calendar app. The latest 2.2 update builds on that release by adding a handful of useful features including native Exchange support.

Flexibits on Wednesday announced the release of an updated version of Fantastical, their already great Mac calendaring program. Fantastical 2 for Mac has been given an all new design, and includes numerous OS X Yosemite features, including a Today Widget, Handoff support, and more. The app has been redesigned from the ground up to give it an OS X Yosemite look and feel.

The biggest change users will notice is that Fantastical 2 now full-blown Calendar app replacement, with a full calendar view, no longer restricted to a pop-up window on the OS X menu bar. “When Fantastical came out 4 years ago, our goal was to reinvent the calendar app to ease the frustrations of using calendars,” said Michael Simmons, CEO & President of Flexibits. “With Fantastical 2, we challenged ourselves to reinvent Fantastical itself.” Fantastical 2 has added OS X/iOS Handoff support, allowing continuity between Fantastical 2 for Mac, Fantastical 2 for iPhone, and Fantastical 2 for iPad. Improved iCloud Reminders allow users to see their events and dated reminders together in the main list. Reminders can be created on the fly by starting a sentence with “reminder”, “todo”, “task”, or “remind me to.” Users can also add location-based reminders, for the always handy “when I arrive/when I leave” prompt. Fantastical 2 for Mac’s language parsing engine, already one of the best features in the app, has been improved to understand repeating events such as third Thursday of every month, every weekend, last weekday of the month, and more. Alerts can be added by ending an entry with a phrase such as “remind me tomorrow at 1PM.” Fantastical 2’s Calendar Sets offer grouping of home and work calendars, even allowing the addition of geofencing so your calendar set automatically displays the proper calendar, depending on your location.
