I have a Windows 98 SE Compaq laptop that I'm trying to get USB working on. I got a USB2connect AUA-1420A PCMCIA card and I installed the drivers from the CD that came with it. This put Adaptec USBControl on my desktop, stopped the prompt looking for drivers, and gave the card a name in the PCMCIA menu in the control panel. However, whenever I boot up or start the software, I get an error saying 'USBControl could not find any Adaptec USB 2.0 hardware.

Please verify that your Adaptec USB 2.0 hardware is properly installed or connected before launching USBControl.' The compute recognizes that it exists because it shows up in the PCMCIA menu and makes noise when you disconnect it, but other than that I can't seem to use it. When I googled around I read that USBControl won't work with my card, but it was the packaged software. What makes things even trickier is that right now the laptop is an island. I can't connect it to my network (or rather I'm not allowed) and I don't have a floppy burner or any floppies, so my only option for IO is burning CD-ROMs until I can get USB working. Does anybody have any advice?

Similar Threads: 1. Which drivers did Adaptec include for Vista for their AUA 1422 Cardbus unit? The files for XP (back in 2004) were: adptusb2.inf aehcd.sys aucbcfg.sys AUCBHLPR.VXD ausb2hub.sys ausbccgp.sys ausbd.sys Would these work in Vista? If not, could somebody make available to me the appropriate Vista files?

This Adaptec unit is EOL and is not further supported. I purchased the above PCMCIA card for my Toshiba Satellite laptop and I can't get windows to recognize it as a USB2 port. If I plug my thumb drive (USB2) into the 1420A it thinks it is a USB1 port. I tried with the Microsoft driver and the one supplied by Adaptec. What am I doing wrong.

Also, when I plug my thumb drive in, it says that the drive is not formatted. After reformatting I can then use the drive again on another USB1 port. I got an error message of this kind: This problem was caused by ASPI Adaptec Driver (ASPI32.SYS). ASPI Adaptec Driver (ASPI32.SYS) was created by Adaptec, Inc.

A solution is available that will solve this problem. Solution - Go to the Adaptec, Inc. Website to learn more about the solution. I don't know what to do to fix the problem where can i download the latest driver for windows vista?

Any news from Adaptec on this one? It's a bit of a pain - my CD/DVD drives are all SCSI and now they're useless.
